Changing Landscapes
An ongoing series of stitched fibre collages tracing my shifting relationship with the land—beginning in the windswept coastlines of Lake Ferry and South Wairarapa, and following a quiet pull northward to Northland, Aotearoa.
Made with naturally dyed and printed silk, wool, and mixed textiles, each piece marks a moment of transition—geographic, emotional, imagined. Repetitive lines of machine stitching follow the contours of the land and the flow of wind, while hand-stitched tally marks represent postcodes—simple notations of place, memory, and movement.
Changing Landscapes is both love letter and farewell to South Wairarapa—an attempt to hold its textures, light, and rhythm as I turn toward a new landscape. Northland, long a place of calm in my dreams, now becomes a place of possibility in waking life.
This work is a map of movement—stitched traces of leaving, longing, and the quiet unfolding of home.
