Printed with pōhutukawa aerial roots, the design of this luxurious silk–wool shawl forms striking, watercolour-like lightning bolt patterns across the fabric — a dynamic interplay of line, light, and natural movement. Light, soft, and versatile, it can be draped, wrapped, or worn as a shawl.
This one-of-a-kind piece measures approximately 70 × 190cm. I hand-printed it using the natural pigments of the pōhutukawa roots, with no inks or synthetics — the colours come entirely from the plant itself, revealed through a slow and mindful process.
The silk–wool voile is one of my favourite fabrics to print on; its fine weave and natural sheen capture each leaf’s impression in delicate detail. This scarf is both artwork and accessory — a singular piece that carries the quiet beauty of nature, celebrating natural variation, seasonal change, and the subtle alchemy between fibre and leaf.

Each scarf is hand-printed with natural plant pigments, and I’ve done my best to show the colours accurately. Because of the subtle variations in leaves and fibres, the hues may appear slightly different in real life than on your screen.
