I hand-printed this scarf with mixed eucalypt and kapuka leaves over a rich magenta cochineal dye base — a happy accident from doubling the cochineal in my dye bath, which gave the scarf its unexpectedly vibrant depth. It drapes sinuously, with a soft, liquid movement, the design layering orange and purple-grey leaf impressions with negative ivory spaces to create a delicate interplay of colour, movement, and texture.
One side of the scarf is lustrous and shiny, while the other has a soft, crepe-like feel, giving a tactile dimension that complements its visual complexity.
Each scarf is hand-printed using the natural pigments of leaves, with no inks or synthetic dyes.
Fabric - Silk satin georgette
Dimensions - 68 × 190 cm (approx)
This scarf is both artwork and accessory — a singular piece that carries the quiet beauty of nature, celebrating natural variation, seasonal change, and the subtle alchemy between fibre, natural dye, and leaf.
Colour Note
Each scarf is hand-printed with natural plant pigments, and I’ve done my best to show the colours accurately. Because of the subtle variations in leaves and fibres, the hues may appear slightly different in real life than on your screen.
